WHAT WE DO
The Special Forces Association is a national 501c organization dedicated to both retired and active-duty Green Berets. The San Antonio chapter was founded in 1975.
Our membership includes approximately 200 active and former soldiers, including one SOS veteran of World War II, many Vietnam vets (including SF medics who trained at Fort Sam Houston) and members with multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, South America and other far-flung corners of the world.
Over the past 14 years, with strong support from San Antonio’s Dick’s Last Resort on the Riverwalk, our Green Berets have been able to raise funds to continue supporting our various charitable endeavors. These include:
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio
Blue Knights Back-to-School Project
Women’s and Children’s Shelter of San Antonio
VFW Post 8541
Christmas Banquet Tickets
Emergency help for SF soldiers & veterans in need.
Memorial Services Detachment, FSH Cemetery
In addition, we provide educational grants to deserving college students and formal recognition to outstanding JROTC cadets at 30 local high schools. Our members also volunteer in several other non-profit organizations.
